Database Administrator- Springfield, MA






My client in Springfield, MA is seeking a DBA for an immediate need!

The database administrator (DBA) is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and repair of an organization’s SQL databases and data gathering tools, such as HL7 integration. The role includes monitoring and improving database performance, capacity, and integration space, aid in planning for future expansion requirements, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard the databases.  The DBA will develop and maintain scripts, SSIS packages, and other objects related to the maintenance of SQL system and the manipulation of data. 


Education and Certifications:
  • 4 year college degree in Computer Science or related field required.
  • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator, preferred.
 Experience:
Incumbent should have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Access, advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server platform with a minimum of 2 years experience.  Visual Basic skills preferred.  A high level of analytical thinking, organizational skills and self-motivation is required.  Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to interface effectively with all levels of the workforce and our clients.

Essential Duties:
  • Developsand maintain SQL scripts, SSIS packages and other objects related to data gathering and manipulation.
  • Monitor and Maintain SQL performance and maintenance plans.
  • Restore or roll SQL databases and upgrade SQL environments as needed.  Manage which applications would be placed on which SQL Servers. 
  • Partners with internal and external clients as well as vendors to design and walk
    through specifications for importing new data and/or programs. 
  • Develops thorough testing plans to assure reliability of data being presented internally to the organization and externally.
  • Demonstrates commitment to deadlines and quality of work by independently using time effectively while adhering to departmental and organizational requirements and guidelines.
  • Proactively seeks to define project requirements, gathering user/management input as needed, receive approval, and coordinate the implementation of the projects.  Keeps direct manager apprised of all project statuses on a scheduled, ongoing basis. 
  • Evaluates, installs and implements new and existing software. Customizes software products and provides technical support to the Information Technology (IT) Department. Informs manager of all phases in new installations.
 Competencies:
  • Advanced SQL Server skillset. 
  • Relational database model knowledge and data warehousing concepts.
  • Visual Basic (VB) skills
  • Ability to compile data from various sources, analyze, transform and load into a central repository from external sources. 
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to manage projects from initiation to completion.
  • Use a high degree of creativity and have the ability to work under minor supervision.
  • High level of analytical thinking, organizational skills, and self-motivation. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
